A quick summary of the proposed By-Law changes:

Article I. Membership 

C. Removal from Membership. 

• Added a provision as follows:  

5. Those who after being approached by leadership with the purpose of loving discipleship and restoration are unrepentant and whose actions repeatedly threaten the well-being of the Congregation as determined by the Elders. 

• Removed the provision for Dual Membership.

Article VIII. Finances 

• Added the following wording in alignment with Federal Tax Code. 

A. Fund Raising – The Church shall not engage in commercial enterprise. Any funds generated by church activities will benefit the church, be related to and further the church’s mission. All fund raising shall be approved by the Elders. 

• Added the Executive Minister to the Budget approval process to reflect our current practices. 

B.  Budget - B. Budget – The Finance Team shall oversee the preparation of the Annual Budget. The Annual Budget shall be approved by the Elders, the Executive Minister and the Lead Minister.  

 

• Added the following article in alignment with Federal Tax Code: 

ARTICLE IX. DISSOLUTION

Upon the dissolution of this corporation, assets shall be distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code, or shall be distributed to the federal government, or to a state or local government, for a public purpose. 

The Elders will determine how the assets shall be distributed.  

• This addition of Article IX. Dissolution changes the numbering of the final two Articles by one. Article IX. Amendments becomes Article X. Amendments. Article X. Enactment becomes to Article XI. Enactment.
